Newcastle Fruit & Produce is a family-owned full service nursery and produce market located in Newcastle, WA. Since 1992, we’ve been serving the greater Newcastle, Bellevue, and Renton communities with passion and pride.

Cashier + Customer Service (Full Time)

Rate: DOE

 

Job Description

  • Process customer transactions through cash register and credit card machines in a clear, efficient, and courteous manner.

  • Consistently provide friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable customer service.

  • Learn location of products and prices.

  • Clean and stock front end areas, including own register – changing tapes and ribbon as necessary.

  • Stock and price merchandise.

  • Maintain shelves (cleaning and restocking) as needed.

  • Ability to open and close shifts, reconcile register

  • Ensure accuracy in recording sales and handling monetary transactions. Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide).

 

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Ability to stand/walk for 6-8 hours.

  • Prior work experience as a cashier and customer service.

  • Dependable, detail-oriented, punctual.

  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to work independently.

  • Play well with others.

  • Not afraid to ask questions!

 

Education and Experience

  • High school or equivalent.

  • At least one year experience as a cashier and customer service preferred.

Nursery Lead or Assistant - DOE (Full Time)

Rate: DOE

Job Description

  • Watering, cleaning plants, weeding, and overall nursery maintenance in all types of weather.

  • Plant identification, pest and disease diagnosis.

  • Help customers select plants and products; suggest design solutions; offer advice on plant care, as well as pest/disease control.

  • Ensure appropriate signage is posted for all plants.

  • Unload delivery trucks.

  • Tag and merchandize plants.

 

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Gardening experience (at least two years).

  • At least one year of retail experience.

  • A passion for plants and customer service.

  • Excellent communication skills: clear, thorough, and courteous.

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.

  • Able to stand, walk, bend, or lift items up to 100% of the day.

  • Punctual and reliable.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Play well with others.

 

Experience/Education

  • Three or more years of gardening experience is strongly preferred.

  • Solid knowledge of Puget Sound horticultural and gardening practices as it relates to nursery plants, woody ornamentals, perennials and/or annuals, as well as insects and diseases is preferred.
